Money Saving Tips

Gather Little By Little is talking about money saving tips and here are some of mine.

Get a decent sized jar.  Every day when you come home from work, dump your change and a couple ones in that jar.  DO NOT TOUCH IT.  Every month, roll up the change and take it and the dollars to the bank and deposit it.  You will be surprised at how much money you can save over a year.  A big part of my down payment on my house came from doing this.

Buy basic clothes.  Seriously.  Basic colors.  You can always accessorize to change the look.

Cook from scratch and don’t hit the restaurants.  Take your lunch to work.  Again, you will save lots there.

For household cleaning, stock up on vinegar and baking soda.  Really.  I’ll post some cleaning recipes later.  You will save lots of money with this.

Plan your errands so you can do them all in one trip.  That will save on gas.

Mend your clothes.  A needle and thread is cheap.

Save money by washing your clothes and linens in cold water.  They *will* come out the same.  Hot water washing is a myth.

Turn your thermostat down – heating your house is a huge money drain.  Use your quilts and blankets!

There are a few tips – hope they help!
