Another day in paradise…not?

by Diane on February 6, 2010

Life has been busy.  Too much work.  I got a nag post from my ad network that I hadn’t posted.  Glad to feel loved, lol.  I’m sure Starcom and Mindshare are very worried that there isn’t a fresh blog post on here.  Oh well, as they say.

It’s Saturday night and cold out there.  At least we didn’t get the snow the mid-Atlantic folks got.  My son and his lady love live in Baltimore and sent me these pictures:

OMG, right?  The kids don’t own a shovel – they live in a townhouse community and never thought they would need one.  Well, I guess this may have changed their minds.  They stocked up on food, Thursday, and unless the electricity goes out, they should be fine.

I’m glad that storm didn’t come here.

My decrapifying is coming along.  Still a long way to go.  But my big boy cat just climbed into my lap and needs some lovin’ so I’m off to commune with him.

Be well folks.

Decrapifying or Resolutions?

by Diane on January 18, 2010

Where have I been?  I’ve been thinking and decrapifying to some degree.  That is this year’s resolution.  It’s time to get order in my life ~ big time.

Some things I want to do this year are:

Make this home office work for me.  That will entail going through file cabinets and getting rid of old stuff.  Finding some cool shelves to put on the wall and making and USING an organizing system for important papers and stuff.

Cleaning out the sewing room.  I think I’ve finally decided to get rid of the bunk beds and furniture in there.  It’s good furniture, but is never used so it’s probably time.

Then, I just might sew in there.  What a concept, eh?

And, then there’s the basement.  Enough said about that.

Some things I want to do better this year are:

Fix up the garden/vegetable beds and plant early enough to be able to enjoy them longer.  The weather will have to cooperate but I’m hoping.

I want to get a regular routine for cooking.  Right now, we are hit or miss and that’s not healthy.

Make exercise much more important – take the dog for longer walks, start weight-lifting again.  Get into shape – loose this weight.

Paint the bathroom, daughter’s room and finish the living room.  Just get it done.

I’ve already changed some things – I’ve started reading again – finished South of Broad by Pat Conroy – I think that’s the title – I’m too lazy to get up and look.  Good book, but I love Pat Conroy – didn’t know why I haven’t read all of him.  The Prince of Tides was a good book as one other that I’ve read.  I picked up The Lords of Discipline and am reading that now.  Good read.  I have several others stacked up waiting and look forward to reading them.

I lost the reading urge for several years.  I always have a book to read but just read them – didn’t really get into them as I used to.  That mojo is coming back.

So, I shall be busy – will blog when the urge strikes but it may not be about quilting.  That’s ok – there will be quilting content here because that’s something I enjoy and plan to do.

So, that’s the latest.  Until next time.

A new year a/k/a bitches from Di

January 1, 2010

I took a blogging break.  I needed it.  I’m not a prolific blogger – lord some of those gals have diarrhea of the fingers, I think.  I stopped reading blogs since Thanksgiving for the most part.  At one point, I had over 3,000 posts to read in my RSS feed.  Gak.
I have been whipping [...]

Christmas countdown

December 23, 2009

No pix, sorry.  Just haven’t had time to take any, yet.  I’m pretty much on target with everything, I think, but I’m sure more things will come to mind, once I start wrapping everything.
I’ve been in a strange mindset recently – working lots at work and just coming home and doing what needs to be [...]

Where have I been?

December 14, 2009

Does it matter?  Naw.  But that’s ok.  I’ve been doing the getting ready for Christmas thing.  Most of the presents are purchased – a few left to get.
I’ve been blasé about it this year and that is probably nuts.  My son and his girlfriend are driving in from Baltimore and I should be freaking out [...]
